Ken Rakusin keeping business local
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. — In 1990, Ken Rakusin took the position of president at Gordon Brush Manufacturing Company, but he was not sure what he was getting himself into.
The company was based out of a dark and rundown 15,000 square foot facility.
Gordon Brush ® has an extensive selection of premium quality toothbrush style brushes with many options on bristle and handle materials to meet your needs. Toothbrush style scratch brushes come in a variety of bristle fill materials such as: Titanium, Thunderon ®, stainless steel, PEEK, static dissipative Nylon, Nylon, horsehair, hog bristle, carbon steel, and brass. Handle materials include: aluminum, plastic, Acetal, conductive plastic, and wood.
In addition to selections for fill and handle material, Gordon Brush's toothbrush style brushes come in a wide variety of brush face lengths and widths, bristle diameters, and bristle rows. The ergonomically designed handles are angled with user comfort in mind to protect knuckles. Gordon Brush's toothbrush style brushes are also categorized by their Electro Static Discharge (ESD) use: anti-static, conductive, insulative, and static dissipative.
Specialty fill material:
Titanium is commercially pure (CP) grade 1 or 2. Titanium is 40% lighter than stainless steel. Titanium has comparable strength and better bend recovery (returns to original position after bending) and has excellent corrosion resistance to water and chemicals due to a thin layer of titanium dioxide (TiO2) that forms on its surface. Titanium is non-magnetic and biocompatible (non-toxic and non-allergenic). Due to its high cost to process, titanium wire is usually reserved for uses in the aerospace and medical fields for cleaning or deburring other titanium parts. It has a maximum use at a temperature of 932°F (500°C);
PEEK bristle is a durable thermoplastic that offers excellent chemical resistance, does not absorb moisture, and is ideal for high heat and corrosive environments. PEEK provides excellent flexural and tensile strength and will work in continuous temperatures up to 480° F (250°C). It is a great alternative to Nylon for use in extreme chemical and heat applications.
Thunderon ® bristle is an extremely soft acrylic fiber that has been chemically bonded with a layer of copper sulfide. This outer layer becomes part of the host fiber itself, which eliminates flaking problems experienced by other conductive fibers. Thunderon ® has a very thin conductive layer of 300-1,000Å (angstroms) and an electrical specific resistance of 10¹-10²Ω/cm.
Toothbrush style brushes have many uses including: aggressive non-scratch cleaning, circuit board rework and cleanup, general cleaning, scrubbing, wiping, dirt removal, fine detail work, detail cleaning, fine cleaning, general utility, gentle cleaning, heavy duty scraping, brushing, soft non-scratch buffing, dusting, finishing surfaces and as fluid and substance applicators.
